Rosa (Valente) Corso

Rosa Corso (Valente), a beloved matriarch, passed away on October 29, 2023, at the age of 101. She was born on December 21, 1921 in Italy.  Her life journey led her to East Boston in the 1960s, where she touched the lives of many with her warmth, grace, and resilience.

Rosa was the loving wife of the late Enrico Corso, and together they created a life filled with love and cherished memories. She was a dedicated mother to Gilda DiCenso, Antonette Cardello, Yvonne Edgar, and the late Angelo Corso. Rosa's family was her greatest joy, and her love for them knew no bounds.

She was the sister of Antonietta Danieli and was preceded in death by her sister Maria Grazia. Rosa leaves behind a beautiful legacy through her grandchildren, Ubaldo DiCenso, Antonietta DiCenso, Paul DiCenso, Angela Malinowski, Michelle D'Ambrosio, John Cardello, Danielle Cataldo, James Donovan, Jonathan Edgar, and Jason Edgar. Her love also extended to 17 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren, who brought endless joy into her life.

Remarkably, Rosa lived independently until the age of 99, a testament to her strength and determination. Her home was always open to family and friends, and her kitchen was a place where cherished recipes were passed down from generation to generation. Rosa's love for cooking was a true labor of love, and her dishes brought comfort and delight to all who had the privilege of tasting them.

In addition to her culinary talents, Rosa had a green thumb that transformed her garden into a vibrant and colorful oasis. Her love for tending to her flowers and vegetables was a reflection of the beauty and life she nurtured in those around her.

Family and friends will come together to celebrate Rosa's life. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 3, 2023, at the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home, 971 Saratoga St., East Boston, from 8:30 AM until 10:30 AM. Following the visitation, a funeral procession will lead to Sacred Heart Church on Brooks St., East Boston, where an 11 AM funeral mass will be held in honor of Rosa's life. Services will conclude with Rosa being laid to rest beside her beloved husband at the Woodlawn Mausoleum in Everett, Massachusetts.

Rosa Corso will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched with her love, kindness, and wisdom. Her legacy of family, food, and flowers will continue to bloom as a beautiful reminder of the remarkable woman she was. Though she may be gone from our sight, her spirit lives on in the memories and the lives she enriched. Rosa's love will be cherished and remembered for generations to come.
