Ray MacDonald of East Boston, formerly of Wellesley, passed away at home with his wife Cindy, son Sean, and daughter Melanie by his side. Ray accomplished many things, but his family and friends were the center of his life. In addition to his wife and children, he leaves wonderful memories of times with his brothers Paul, Tim, John, and Michael. He was pleased and proud to have his daughter-in-law Karissa join the family as Sean's wife last October 2022.
Ray retired in 2017 and led a busy life volunteering and enjoying friendships at the Jeffries Yacht Club, the Coast Guard Auxiliary, the Sovereign Military Order of the Temple of Jerusalem, the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company and as a Nantucket Lightship volunteer. He and his wife Cindy spent time traveling, enjoyed vacations with their dogs, and most of all, relished their visits with their children. The pandemic did not slow down the good times, including a 40th wedding anniversary for two in 2020.
Born in Arlington to John MacDonald and his wife Phyllis, (nee Collins), Ray earned his BS from Northeastern and his law degree from Massachusetts School of Law. He was proud of his service in the Marines, serving at Camp David and in the 8th and I Drill Corps under the Nixon Administration. His work as a police sergeant in Wellesley led to his T-Mobile career where he treasured his time with his Law Enforcement Relations team and colleagues, building lasting friendships everywhere he went.
A memorial service will be held on April 22nd at noon at the Nantucket Lightship Museum in the East Boston Shipyard, (please wear sturdy shoes). The family welcomes photos to add to their collection of memories. Donations can be made in lieu of flowers to the Nantucket Lightship at www.nantucketlightshiplv-112.org.
