Phyllis D'Amato Obituary

Phyllis (Campagna) D'Amato, a lifelong resident of East Boston, MA passed away August 31, 2022 at the age of 80 with her loving family by her side after a brief illness.   

Phyllis is predeceased by her parents, Rose & Ernest Campagna.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 61 years, Gerald (Jerry) D'Amato.  

She is the dear sister of Ernie Campagna, daughter-in-law of the late Ralph & Angelina D'Amato, & sister-in-law of Ralph (Tubby) D'Amato & the late Faith Ann Marotta.  

Her life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children: Linda D'Amato of Andover, MA; Lisa & John Capo of East Boston, MA; Mark & Angela D'Amato of Westford, MA; and Jason & Kerry D'Amato of Merrimack, NH.

Phyllis was the beloved grandmother to her 9 grandchildren: Jordan Caruso; Christian, his fiancé Jade & children Jayce & Mia, Justin & Mikayla Capo; Emma & Alex D'Amato; and Megan, Jack & Jake D'Amato.

She is also survived by her many nephews, nieces & cousins, especially Arline Sweeney, who was her much loved "big sister".  

Her life was forever blessed by her very best friend of 70 years, Judy Domenico, who was a "sister" to her and is a loving aunt to her children and grandchildren.

Phyllis was the typical Italian grandmother whose home was filled with love, delicious food and always lots of laughter. She created wonderful traditions and memories for her family and friends. She had a zest for life, was always laughing, loved the beach, get togethers with her many friends and going to concerts and the theatre with her daughter.  

Phyllis worked as a bookkeeper for 31 years at the East Boston Social Centers.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Family and friends will honor Phyllis' life by gathering at the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home, 971 Saratoga Street, East Boston on Tuesday, September 6th from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. and again on Wednesday morning at 9:30 before leaving in procession to Sacred Heart Parish, East Boston, for a funeral Mass celebrating Phyllis' life at 11:00 A.M. Services will conclude with Phyllis being laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

At the family's request, floral contributions are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, donations in Phyllis' memory may be made to the East Boston Social Centers, Attn: Marisa DiPietro, 68 Central Square, East Boston, MA 02128.
