Lawrence Michael "Mikey" Hancock Sr.

On Tuesday, November 15, 2022 Lawrence Michael "Mikey" Hancock passed away at 76 years old.

Loving husband of Karen A. Hancock for 58 years.

Devoted father of Deanne L. Hancock, Michelle Hancock Seaman, Lawrence M. Hancock Jr. and the late Mark J. Hancock.

Cherished grandfather of Julia B. Hancock. 

Lawrence was the youngest son of 10 children to Anna and Reuben Hancock. He is survived by sisters: Virigina Anderson of Peabody, Dorothy Rose of Arlington, and Judith Hancock of Winthrop.

Caring uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will honor Lawrence’s life by gathering at the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home, 971 Saratoga St. East Boston, on Sunday, November 20th from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM and again Monday morning at 10:00 AM. A prayer service will take place in our serenity chapel at 11:30 AM. Services will conclude with Lawrence being laid to rest in Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden with military honors. 

Mikey was a lifelong resident of East Boston, graduated from E.B.H.S. in 1964 and after high school enlisted in the Military. He served in Vietnam, as a Marine Corporal, demolitions expert and received a purple heart.  After the Military, Mikey joined the Union Brothers of Boilermakers Local 29. It was his family trade in which he worked for 31 years.

His passion was cooking, he was always making Sunday gravy for the family. Mikey also loved to keep active and enjoyed volunteering at his granddaughters school events. A long-time friend of Bill W., he was an active member of the recovery community, always lending a hand to newcomers in recovery. He will be greatly missed by everyone he has touched in his life. May he rest in peace.
