Kevin Carpenter Obituary

Kevin Thomas Carpenter, of Atlanta, formerly of Boston and Albany, passed away suddenly on Monday, August 29th at the age of 40.

He leaves behind his daughter, Zoey Levine of Albany, NY; his parents, Michele Lindsay of Hudson, NY and Michael Carpenter of St. Augustine, Florida, and stepfather Todd Czaplinski of Hudson; his brother Nicholas Carpenter of Queens, NY; his half-brother Patrick Amore of Philadelphia, PA, and his stepsister Jen Czaplinski of Poughkeepsie, NY; his loving partner, Kate Gottung of Atlanta; and countless friends.

Kevin was born in Olean, New York on June 20, 1982 and grew up in and around Albany. He moved to Boston in his 20’s and fell in love with the city, becoming an active and beloved member of the recovery community. Kevin relocated to Atlanta with Kate in 2021, where he continued his successful business in home repair and maintenance.

Kevin had a magnetic personality and an uncanny ability to turn a complete stranger into a lifelong friend. He was always up for an adventure and hated to be bored. He loved traveling, camping and nature, and sports, and served as a well-loved coach for East Boston Little League. He had an active, curious mind, wide-ranging interests and hobbies, and was perennially excited to learn or try something new. Kevin would do whatever he could to help anyone, anywhere, anytime, and would not hesitate to drop whatever he was doing to listen to someone or to buy them a milkshake. He believed that no matter how low a person got, everyone deserved at least a fresh pair of socks--so he would routinely buy out all the socks at a store and deliver them to the unhoused community at the Mass and Cass encampment. He supported countless people in the Boston and Atlanta recovery communities through their most difficult times. Everyone who ever met him has a story about how he affected their life. There was no one like Kevin.

Family and friends will celebrate Kevin’s life by gathering at Recovery on the Harbor 983 Bennington St East Boston on Monday Sept. 5 from 6-8pm.
