Hector Zelaya, born on August 25, 1940, in Yucuaiquín, El Salvador, peacefully passed away on October 4, 2023, in Boston. He immigrated to Chelsea, MA in 1998, where he built a life filled with love and meaningful connections. Hector was a pillar of strength and love, married for over 59 years to his beloved wife, Domitila Gomez de Zelaya. Together, they raised a beautiful family and shared countless cherished memories.

He was a devoted father to Mayra, Delmy, Alexander, Enilsa, and Telma Zelaya, a loving grandfather to Jessica, Arnold, Jocelyn, Elizabeth, Yasmina, Kathelyn, Alexandra, Gabriella, and Brianna, and a proud great-grandfather to Adrian, Aria, and Levy. Hector's presence in their lives was a source of love, wisdom, and guidance.

Before coming to the United States, Hector worked as a farmer in El Salvador, deeply connected to the land he cultivated.  Hector had a passion for connecting with people; he loved spending time with his family, walking around his neighborhood, engaging in conversations with neighbors, and visiting the local bodega. His love extended to his two beloved dogs, who were cherished companions throughout his life.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, October 8, from 3-7 pm at Ruggiero Family Memorial Home, 971 Saratoga St, East Boston. The funeral service will take place on Monday at 8:30 am at Ruggiero Family Memorial Home, 971 Saratoga St, East Boston, followed by a funeral procession to St. Rose Church on Broadway, Chelsea, for a 10 am funeral mass to celebrate Hector's remarkable life.

 

Héctor Zelaya, nacido el 25 de agosto de 1940 en Yucuaiquín, El Salvador, falleció pacíficamente el 4 de octubre de 2023 en Boston. Emigró a Chelsea, MA en 1998, donde construyó una vida llena de amor y conexiones significativas. Héctor fue un pilar de fuerza y amor, casado por más de 59 años con su amada esposa, Domitila Gómez de Zelaya. Juntos, criaron una hermosa familia y compartieron innumerables recuerdos queridos.

Fue un padre devoto de Mayra, Delmy, Alexander, Enilsa y Telma Zelaya, un abuelo amoroso de Jessica, Arnold, Jocelyn, Elizabeth, Yasmina, Kathelyn, Alexandra, Gabriella y Brianna, y un orgulloso bisabuelo de Adrián, Aria y Levy. La presencia de Héctor en sus vidas fue una fuente de amor, sabiduría y orientación.

Antes de llegar a Estados Unidos, Héctor trabajó como agricultor en El Salvador, conectado profundamente con la tierra que cultivaba. Héctor tenía una pasión por conectar con las personas; amaba pasar tiempo con su familia, caminar por su vecindario, entablar conversaciones con los vecinos y visitar la bodega local. Su amor se extendía a sus dos queridos perros, quienes fueron compañeros apreciados a lo largo de su vida.

El horario de visitas se llevará a cabo el domingo 8 de octubre, de 3 a 7 pm, en Ruggiero Family Memorial Home, 971 Saratoga St, East Boston. El servicio fúnebre se llevará a cabo el lunes a las 8:30 am en Ruggiero Family Memorial Home, 971 Saratoga St, East Boston, seguido de un cortejo fúnebre a la Iglesia de Santa Rosa en Broadway, Chelsea, para una misa fúnebre a las 10 am para celebrar la vida notable de Héctor.
