Dorothea M. (Sgroi) Simonini

Simonini, Dorothea M. (Sgroi) of East Boston passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on March 22, 2023.

Beloved wife of the late Joseph Simonini.

Devoted mother of Carol Loud and husband Donald of Winthrop, Lisa Tassone of Winthrop, Dodi Obermeier and husband Gary of East Boston, Joseph Simonini and wife Jeri of Revere, Susan Strangie and husband Stephen of Saugus.

Cherished grandmother of 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will honor Dorothea's life by gathering at the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home, 971 Saratoga St. (Orient Heights) East Boston on Sunday, March 26th from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM and again on Monday morning at 8:30 AM before leaving in procession to St. Joseph - St. Lazarus Church, East Boston, for a funeral mass at 10:00 AM. Services will conclude with Dorothea being laid to rest with her beloved husband at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Dorothea's name to a charity of your choice.

Dorothea was a member of the Courageous Generation. She was a long time parishioner of St. Joseph - St. Lazarus Church in East Boston. She is also a past employee of Nu Tread Tire. Dorothea loved volunteering and helping in many ways she could around her community. She also loved playing bingo. She will be missed by many. May she rest in peace.
